Trinity Lutheran Church
May 2018 Business of the Month
Jesus said You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under a bushel basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light in all the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
This verse from the Bible gets to the heart of what it means to be the people of Trinity Lutheran Church as they realize their call not only as a church but as individuals to shine the light of Christ into the world.
Trinity Lutheran has roots going back to 1888 as the Lisbon Scandinavian Lutheran Free Church. In 1919, this congregation along with the Zion and St. Paul’s Lutheran churches joined to become Trinity Lutheran Church.
Trinity Lutheran is about more than its past, it is about being God’s people and shining the light of Christ as we step into the future. There are many ways this ‘Light on the Hill’ shines the light of Jesus not only in our building but throughout our community. Sunday School, Vocation Bible School, and Confirmation are vital ministries for our young but we also learn and serve in many ways including quilting, prayer shawl groups, prayer and Bible study groups. (VBS is July 31-August 2) And we can’t forget the Lutefisk and Buffalo suppers.
One of our newest ministries is Simple Servant. This group of folks feels called to help others with simple tasks they are not able to do on their own. If you know of anyone who has a simple project, not a project which requires a building permit or certification (electrician, plumber, licensed/bonded contractor…) this may include but is not limited to maintenance/repair, changing light bulbs, organize/clean, and lawn care. For more information contact church office at 701-683-5841.
Trinity Lutheran is located at 415 5th Avenue West. Worship services are Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and select Wednesdays (see Gazette or our digital sign). Trinity’s pastors are Norm Anderson and Tammy Jacobson, contact them or anyone from Trinity for more information.
